The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) has launched the ‘Ibtaker’ Award, designed to recognize creativity and innovation within the workplace. The initiative aims to encourage out-of-the-box thinking, improve problem-solving skills, and strengthen teamwork.
ASRY CEO Dr Ahmed Al Abri explained that the award is part of a wider effort to build a workplace where new ideas are valued. It gives employees the chance to take part in setting out practical plans that improve how the company operates, make the work environment better, and open the door to future new business opportunities. He said the award is fully in line with the company’s values, which are rooted in teamwork and innovation, and seeks to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement.
Shaikh Duaij bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice-President for Corporate Support, said the ‘Ibtaker’ Award was both a way to reward creative employees and to keep them motivated. He added that a special online platform had been set up to gather ideas, with winners to be named in July. Those selected will receive cash prizes and commemorative trophies.
Shaikh Duaij also outlined the evaluation process, which will consist of multiple stages. Initial assessments will be based on criteria such as originality, impact, clarity, and sustainability. A panel made up of members from across the company will then choose the top entries. Finalists will present their ideas in person during the last round of judging.
